Import Photos for iOS 12
Since direct access to external drives has appeared since iOS 13, for earlier versions we provided an option through preliminary import into the standard Photo Library.
Import of both JPEG and RAW files is supported.
To import, you need a Camera Connection Kit. Instead, you can use other similar adapters from AliExpress.
After connecting the Camera Connection Kit, open the Photos app and go to the Import tab.
Important: you need to create a separate album for the imported photos (it is more convenient to do this during import, but you can also after). To do this, click on Import to: (1), in the new window select New Album ... (2) and enter a name for the new album (3).
Make sure the name of the new album is listed in the Import to: field. iOS 12 added the ability to select all photos for a specific date for import. Select the required photos (4) and click Import (5), then select Import Selected (6):
In PhotoPicker create a new directory (7) and enter a name (8). Go to it and click the photo import icon (9). A window will open displaying all albums from the Photo Library that were created by the user. Select the desired one (10) and then select the photo resolution: original or standard. If you choose standard, the photo resolution for PhotoPicker will be reduced to 6 Megapixels.
